6 Reasons Why Pineapples Are SO Awesome

Juicy, sweet, and tart pineapples are essentially one of the best things ever, but did you know there are more reasons to love pineapples than just how good they taste.ย Here are 6 of the top reasons why you should be showing pineapples the love on a weekly, if not daily, basis.

  1. Skin Exfoliation & Acne Fightingface-mask

The juice from a freshly cut pineapple is loaded with properties that naturally slough off dead skin and any grimy build up that may be hiding in your pores that can lead to acne. Simply dab some of the fresh juice on your skin for it to work its magic. You can experiment with adding a tiny bit of honey and yogurt to form a mask that is perfect for lounging in a hot bath. Let it sit for 10-30 minutes before your thoroughly clean it all off completely with a gentile facial soap. Remember to eat well, hydrate, and exercise so that your cells glow from the inside out.

Regrowing pineapples is so easy.

  1. They Regrow!

Ok, this one shouldn’t be too big of a shock since most (I mean all) plants have figured this one out, but the way a pineapple does it is really cool. If you have a warm place to plant it, you can regrow your own pineapple very easily. Just lob off the top of your pineapple and place the spiky green top into a pot of soil. That’s it! Of course, you need to remember to water it, and keeping it warm is vital. However, if you wanted to, you could grow a new pineapple for each pineapple you buy – the ultimate two for one special, with compounding interest.

  1. Cancer Fighter

Bromelain, a protein-digesting enzyme which is only found in pineapples, helps to combat free radical damage (read cancer fighter) and facilitates wound healing as well as gut health. If you’re a meat eater, you may want to marinade with fresh pineapple juice since this enzyme is frequently used as a meat tenderizer that helps to break down the meat. This makes it more enjoyable to consume and easier for the body to digest. That being said, studies on long-term health show that the more fruits, veggies, and whole grains you eat instead of meat the better in is for your overall health.

Did you know that back in the day English sailors were called limeys? The reason forย this is that on their long voyages they would insist on bringing limes with them.ย They knew that Vitamin C deprivation causes your gums to be unhealthy to the point of bleeding and decay. Limes, as well as pineapples, are packed with vitamin C which keeps your gums in great health.
