Nothing beats a super ripe, juicy, amazingly delicious peach. Tart, sweet, and bursting with flavor, peaches satisfy all of the senses with just one bite – but did you know that they are also great for you? Mind, body, soul, and taste buds, peaches enhance your life. Here are some more reasons why you need to eat more peaches.
Tons of Vitamins and Minerals
Peaches contain many essential minerals including: magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, copper, manganese, iron and calcium. These minerals work to support red blood cell count, bone density and nervous system functioning. They also contain the vital vitamins: C, K, A, E and some of the B’s like thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin B-6, niacin, folate and pantothenic acid. This all help with healthy skin, blood, and nervous system functioning on a cellular level, which in turn impacts how your organs function and how you function.
The next time you feel a snack attack coming on, instead of a roll of tart candies of a bag of chips, you could grab yourself a bomb peach and do yourself the favor of being all that much more fit for not eating that junky food. Peaches really do taste great, so you are not missing out on anything by switching your snack. They couldn’t make a more magnificent treat in a lab!
You can also find a good amount of fiber in peaches. Fiber is essential for clearing your digestive tract so things don’t get gunked up and unhealthy. It also helps rid the body of bad cholesterol, which can gunk up your arteries and lead to massive, sometimes deadly, heart troubles. Fiber is basically like a big scrub brush for your insides, clearing away any junky stuff that makes your system not function well. Think about how good it feels to brush your teeth. Eating foods with fiber in them do the same thing all throughout your body, leaving you feeling super fresh and happy inside. 🙂
Last (but not least!) you can get a solid dose of antioxidants with each bite every time you pick up a peach. You may already know this, but antioxidants combat oxidation in the body. This keeps your cells strong, which fends of the signs of aging as well as the weakening of cells as they maintain your bodies functioning and combat cancers. Peaches (and healthy eating at large) is the true fountain of youth!
If you want to do something good for yourself, grab a super plump, juicy peach the next time you go grocery shopping, or if you’re really lucky head over to a local farm and pick a fresh one! If you are not quite so lucky as to have a sweet peach farm nearby, the easiest way to get more peach in your life is to opt for frozen. You only lose a tiny bit of that incredible explosive flavor, but added to smoothies the peach chunks blend right in nicely and partner well with bananas, strawberries, blueberries, and even a little kale or spinach.
If you do find some nice fresh ones, try chopping them up and adding them to a salsa, topping your salad, or even grilling them with a little honey and cinnamon on top served as a solo desert or on some homemade banana ice cream. Peaches and mint go really well together. You can even try this great recipe for tomato and peach gazpacho.
